Tile
Tile comes in a wide variety of styles shapes and styles. The spaces between the tiles are filled with sanded or unhanded floor grout.
Ceramic Tile:
A tile that is constructed using red, brown or white clay that has been permanently hardened by heat often having a decorative glaze. Ceramic tile comes in either glazed or unglazed surfaces. The glazed surfaces are like glass and are best used on walls as they can be slippery for floor applications. Glazed ceramic tiles are also a little more susceptible to cracking when selecting any ceramic tile it is important to look at the PEI factor. This is the scratch resistance factor. A PEI of 1 is ideal for walls. A PEI of 2 is best for bathrooms and kitchens. A PEI of 3 is appropriate for all residential applications, and PEIs of 4 and 5 are applicable for commercial and heavy commercial applications, respectively
Porcelain Tile:
Constructed using white clay a strong, vitreous, translucent ceramic material, biscuit fired at a low temperature, glazed then fired at a very
high temperature. Porcelain tiles are more rugged making them ideal for harsher applications such as flooring. Also, because of their higher density, porcelain tiles are less likely to absorb moisture (0.5%) which makes them more durable and more resistant to staining. Porcelain tiles are frequently found in floor applications, outdoor areas, with their low absorption capability they are less likely to crack.
Natural Stone Tile; is a naturally occurring stone that has been quarried and sliced for application such stones would be granite, marble or slate or travertine etc.
Glass Tile: Today glass tiles have become a more popular option for both field and accent tiles. This can be attributed to the ability to provide intense color and light reflection, and their impervious to water. Glass tile poses some unique complexities to the installer as glass is more rigid than similar ceramic or porcelain tiles, glass tiles can break easier with tile saws and due to shifts in the sub-straight.

Wood Flooring
Engineered Wood Flooring is made up from 3- 12 multiple “real hardwood” layers all of which are cross layered on top of each other, with a plywood or MDF backing. This method makes it a durable surface which is extremely stable and minimizes the natural movement of the wood and expansion in high moisture environments. Engineered wood flooring is typically tongue and groove and can be installed in several ways with the most common being, floating and glued to subfloor.
Laminate Flooring is made up of several different layers. The face of the laminate is not real wood: but, rather, it is a high quality image of wood or tile bonded to the bottom layer being the stabilizing layer and finished off with a top layer protective laminate finish making it very durable floor covering. .
Solid Wood Flooring is made up from “REAL” wood, at a thickness ranging from 5/16" to 3/4" and comes in an array of species. The most popular being Oak, Beech, Maple, Ash, and Bamboo.
Most solid wood floors can be nailed down or can be fully glued to the floor. Hardwood is susceptible to scratching and will show wear over time especially in high traffic areas of the home but it can also be repaired by sanding and refinishing. It can also can be damaged by excessive moisture. Wood is beautiful and timeless surface that can add value to any home.
